Shoe Review - Adidas Supernova Glide

I was serving Jury Duty in Santa Monica this past August. when I came across and article in the Outside mag I'd brought along in the event of boredom. I came across an article about a pair of shoes that they claimed both male and female testers claims were just about perfect: Adidas Supernova Glides.

After reading the article, I just had to check them out personally so during a lunch break I trekked over to the Adidas Superstore on the Promenade and bought a pair for $100.00. When I went running that evening they felt a bit faster than my usual shoes. And they were supremely comfortable as well. I tested them out on my treadmill and noticed that I was running about 1/2 mile per hour faster in them than normal. Perhaps it was just the adrenaline, but over the past couple of months the excitement has worn down but they're still the fastest feeling shoes I have. And, when you're training at 9 to 10 miles per hour.....that's a big deal!

Of course, for me $100.00 is a big deal too. Fortunately, they are heavily discounted on the web and I secured another pair for $59.00, no tax and $10.00 shipping. (They're made for women as well with the same name.)

I've been running f0r 30 years now and I'd have to agree that these are best shoes I've had.

Music and Running

Welcome to the initial installment of the Calabasas Runners Club Blog!

Today, we'll explore the connection between music and running. I've found that running with music greatly enhances the overall experience. But, why? Here are some links to get you started:

First, a general overview of the topic and some suggestions:

Second, an interesting discussion of the science behind running to music:

And thirdly, recommendations regarding the current crop of MP3 players:

However, there is something that you need to be very mindful of, your ears. Here's how to avoid damage:

An alternative to paying for each MP3 track you download is a subscription music service, which costs about $15/mo., that provides an "all you can eat" approach to downloads for your MP3 player:

OK! Now you're set to rock 'n run!
